A Warning to Lawyers!
Many of the documents posted here are unreported trial court decisions. Many of these decisions will be the subject of appeal. I do not constantly monitor the status of these cases. If these cases are reversed, modified on appeal, or superceded by other case law, I may not know it. Before relying upon one of these cases, you must confirm its continued validity by checking with the court, the lawyers, and/or on-line databases.

a favorable evidentiary ruling, in limine, prohibiting the Pontzer carrier from disclosing
to the jury where the insurance coverage came from or from arguing that the plaintiff's
entitlement to coverage under Scott-Pontzer was somehow unfair. This is the 1) Motion and 2) Decision granting the motion. |

About File Formats.
After downloading a document to your computer, you still need the right kind of software to view it. Here are some of the common file formats I use.
File Extension |
Description |
| Adobe Acrobat. To view documents in this format, you need to download and install the free reader at www.adobe.com. This format is an Internet standard, so you'll probably need this software sooner or later anyway. | |
| .doc | Microsoft Word. You'll either need this word processor or one that will import this format. |
| .zip | Zip Archive File. This is another Internet standard. A Zip utility compresses and combines multiple files into a single archive file to make downloading easier. After downloading a .zip file, you need a Zip software utility (such as Winzip at www.winzip.com) to extract the files from the archive. |
| .exe | This is an executable program which can be run on your computer. Generally, any .exe file in my Document Library will be a "self-extracting" zip file (see above). This means that the document archive will extract itself without needing to install a Zip utility such as Winzip. |
| .ppt | PowerPoint Slide Show. You will need Microsoft PowerPoint installed on your computer to view this file. |
